O2 Academy Sheffield 

Opened in 2008 by Pulp's Jarvis Cocker with a sell-out gig to see local band Reverend and The Makers, the O2 Academy in Sheffield has been a large and popular venue in the scene. housing some prolific bands local and nationally such as The Enemy, Octane OK and Jake Bugg. You can find the O2 Academy Sheffield at 37 - 43 Arundel Gate, S1 2PN.


Leadmill, located at 6 Leadmill Road, S1 4SE, is the oldest venue in Sheffield, having opened in 1980, and has frequently been voted Sheffield's best music venue in NME and Live UK's awards. Seen as a rite of passage to many musicians, Leadmill has seen countless music giants pass through its doors, from Muse to Oasis to The Killers, as well as local legends Arctic Monkeys. Leadmill is always a good bet if you want to see an awesome show, and if you can play there you know you're doing well.

The Plug 

The Plug is an intimate venue, but don't let that fool you. It has seen the likes of Lily Allen's Sheffield debut, Patti Smith and The Prodigy. Check out The Plug at 14 - 16 Matilda Street, S1 4QD.


With hundreds of live shows and club nights each year, Corporation is the place to go for the music of the heavier and more alternative variety. It has been voted in the top three venues by magazines like Kerrang. and Metal Hammer. If you're into your metal, definitely check Corporation out, and aim to play there with your band. Find it on Milton Street, S1 4JU.
